2002 TENNESSEE

Tuesday 16th July
We arrived in the afternoon and after settling into our hotel room we wandered downstairs to meet everyone. I was so excited about meeting all these people that I had been chatting with for about 4 years.
We all wandered in one by one and as usual everyone was just the same as they were in the chatroom. One disastrous thing happened happened though which was to haunt me for ages …..Mama B had brought boxes and boxes of KK donuts. I could well have done without an introduction to these.
Well we sat around the pool area getting to know each other and when it was dinnertime we took ourselves off to a nearby steakhouse ….. another first when I saw all the peanut shells on the floor of the restaurant!

The highlight of the evening happened as we strolled back to the hotel …… a figure started to walk towards us and I remarked that it looked remarkably like Skippy. Then a scream rang out as Cheri discovered it WAS Skippy!!!!
Later we continued to chatter and dance and sing before dropping into bed quite late.

Wednesday 17th July
Today we cruised leisurely into Nashville and walked around the town behaving of course. Had lunch as a big group in the Hardrock Café there and had some fun outside Hooters. I got myself a picture of a Nashville cop. Great day was had by one and all.

Thursday 18th July
Well the day of the wedding has arrived at last. We visited ‘Kinkos’ which is an internet café chain. The whole crew arrived eventually and we had a great hook up with the people in the chat room.
The wedding was lovely and Cheri looked beautiful in her outfit. Savannah her little granddaughter was her flower girl and her daughter was her best maid. Jodi, her daughter was a lovely best maid. Now we mustn’t forget the handsome groom, Ken otherwise known as the gentle giant.
Unfortunately some people managed to get ‘lost’ and they missed the actual ceremony. There was a reception in the evening at the Holiday Inn and afterwards in room 425!!!
Great day with great memories …………… so glad I could make it.

Friday 19th July
Karen, Gwen, Tina and myself went off to the “Opryland Hotel”. It was beautiful with a tropical rainforest environment theme …..waterfalls cascading ….. etc! etc! ….. a very pleasant atmosphere.
Karen met up with an old college chum and we had a nice lunch. We told Laverne, her friend, all about Teachers.net and hoped she would come in and chat with us.

In the evening we visited Ken and Cheri at their place. They live a little way out of town but we found it ok. I saw some fireflies for the very first time ….. very bright.
Everyone had a good natter with each other and we played “pass the phone” with Eimmik using Cher’s phone as she is the one with all the spare minutes. Another first was the ‘Spanish moss’ I saw in the garden.
The following pictures were taken on one or other of the 4 wonderful days here in Tennessee. As you will see we had lots of fun and lots of laughter. A great bunch of people. Thank you all for making this part of my journey such fun. I truly enjoyed meeting every one of you and hope to do so again and again.
